POWER PLATE NEWSROOM

Players from a Welsh Rugby Union divisional league team are amongst the hundreds of locals who are now making the Power Plate® machine a regular part of their fitness regime at ActiveVibe Studio in Caerphilly, south Wales.

The studio, owned by Mark Denton and Christina Rees, opened in January 2011, offering small group exercise classes on its five Power Plate pro5 machines.

Christina Rees is close friends with the Senghenydd rubgy team’s coach Christian Ferris and gave him the opportunity to try a workout on the Power Plate machine.

“Like many men, Christian was skeptical about the benefits that the Power Plate machine can offer. But when he tried it, he was astonished that it was possible to get such an intense workout in a short space of time. He immediately recognised the benefits it could offer his players, who are always looking for ways to improve performance both on and off the pitch,” says Christina.

In just one year, ActiveVibe has built up a customer base, with 1,000 clients now using its facilities regularly. The Senghenydd rugby players enjoy private training sessions, but the studio also offers a regularly changing timetable of classes including abs blast, whole body tone, legs, bums and tums, high energy cardio, upper body sculpt and fat burn. Classes cost £6 per session, with the option to purchase blocks of sessions from five upwards on a monthly basis.

Christina says when they opened the studio they choose Power Plate machines because of the quality of build and performance the brand offered.

“One year on, it has proved the right decision. These machines are definitely standing the test of time, given their frequent use in a studio environment.”

Pure Gym has become the first budget gym chain to equip every site in its portfolio with multiple Power Plate® machines.

The company is installing three Power Plate pro5™ models in each of its sites, totaling 60 machines across all its properties.

Members can use the machine free of charge, as part of their membership package. There will be exercise posters near each machine to facilitate self-guided use and they will also offer small group exercise classes on the machines.

“We strive to offer our members the very best equipment, while still keeping membership costs low. Introducing Power Plate machines, a product often thought of as a ‘luxury’, was the next logical step in maintaining this ethos,” says Brian Scurrah, Development Director at Pure Gym.

“To become leaders in our sector, we need to invest in the best possible equipment, which is why we chose Power Plate. It has a proven track record in the commercial market and we are delighted our clients can now enjoy all the benefits these machines can offer.”

“We are delighted that Pure Gym has added Power Plate to their offering; demonstrating their commitment to providing great equipment at great value to their customers” adds Jeff Davis; Senior Vice President of Power plate International.

The Power Plate machine works by transferring vibrations throughout the body. As users hold a pose or perform an exercise on its vibrating platform, this causes the muscles to respond multiple times per second, meaning shorter sessions which can yield faster results.

Pure Gym clubs are open for 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, so clients can use the facilities at a time convenient to them. There are no contracts and monthly fee’s start from £17.99 per month; members have access to all classes. There is also the option to pay for day passes for the occasional user.

Power Plate has collaborated with renowned nutritionist and TV presenter Amanda Hamilton to offer clients a 360 degree approach to their health, fitness and wellbeing.

As the official nutrition partner for Power Plate, Amanda will be offering nutritional tips and advice to Power Plate users, through her recently launched online weight management programme www.amandahamilton.co.uk.

Following tailored food plans for permanent inch loss alongside regular Power Plate sessions, clients will be able to achieve their goals by following a sustainable diet and exercise plan.

“Combining diet with exercise is a winning formula when it comes to sustainable inch and weight loss, so we’re thrilled to be working alongside Amanda. Her online weight management programme allows users to login and access her expertise at any time of the day, so if they have any questions about diet or exercise then she’s there at the press of a button,” says Natalie Prescott, Manager of UK Regional Sales, Power Plate UK.

This new collaboration will also allow Power Plate® studios to offer an integrated approach to fitness and weight loss to their clients as well as generating additional revenue through Amanda Hamilton’s Pro-Affiliate Scheme.

Affiliate studios can offer their members a free seven-day cleanse so that they can trial the programme, as well as a discount on membership fees on sign up. Studios will earn commission for every client who takes advantage of this offer, creating an additional revenue stream.

“Amanda is already a huge fan of the Power Plate machine and uses it with her Detox Retreat clients, so she was the obvious choice when it came to partnering with a nutritionist. Not only will clients feel the benefits of combining diet and exercise, but the collaboration will also give our studios a chance to enhance their business and ensure that their clients can make the most of this new partnership” added Natalie.

The Power Plate Studios in Harrods and Selfridges are the first to offer this new scheme which will be rolled out to other studios and fitness facilities with Power Plate machines across the UK in the coming months.

As winter fast approaches and those warm summer days become a distant memory, shaping up for the festive season no longer means returning to your mundane fitness routine.

Get your body “little black dress ready” in double-quick time with Power Plate Combination, the innovative new class concept from Power Plate, the leaders in Acceleration Training™ exercise.

Power Plate Combination draws inspiration from different types of training, including Pilates, cardiovascular, strength, endurance, and yoga. In just 25 minutes, you’ll complete a warm up, improve stability and balance with Pilates-style poses then move into a cardio phase of the program to increase your heart rate. The class also builds strength and endurance, and includes yogic moves to help improve flexibility, before you can relax with a well deserved massage.

Power Plate machines work by transferring vibrations throughout the body, which cause the muscles to respond multiple times per second. This intensifies the results of holding a pose or performing a dynamic exercise, making it the ideal tool to help you shape up fast, saving you time.

For added impact, this class concept uses the newest pro6™ model to deliver an even more challenging workout. Thanks to the machine’s integrated proMOTION™ Dynamic Vibration Technology, which features a fully-loaded cable resistance system, you can burn additional calories, improve your stamina and build definition in your front and lateral abdominals.

Available at the Power Plate Studios in Harrods and Selfridges and selected Power Plate® Authorised Centres around the United Kingdom from November 2011, this high intensity, time-efficient workout is sure to excite your exercise regime and leave you body beautiful in time for New Year and beyond.

Expert fitness guidance at home is no longer a luxury reserved solely for the rich and the famous, thanks to the new Power Plate® my7™ model.

For the first time ever the Power Plate machine features an interactive, touch-screen video interface with access to more than 250 progressive full body workouts, drawn from a library of more than 1,000 individual exercise videos.

Whether you want to Look Better, Feel Better or Play Better, from Abs to Upper Body Endurance, there is a workout to suit your goals and ability. Each program has been designed to offer progression, so you stay motivated and realise your potential.

Even the busiest people no longer have an excuse, as the my7 offers programs as short as 10 minutes, making it far easier to squeeze a workout into a demanding day.

In addition, the my7 is the first home Power Plate machine to feature proMOTION™ technology, an embedded cable resistance system adding another dimension to your workout. These cables transfer vibrations more effectively, so you can perform a far wider range of dynamic exercises both on and off the platform.

With the ability to create individual user profiles, which record your workout progression and favourite exercises, the whole family can use the my7 machine to achieve their personal fitness goals.

As with all Power Plate machines, the my7 works by transferring vibrations throughout the body, which cause the muscles to respond multiple times per second. This intensifies the results of holding a pose or performing a dynamic exercise, which is why it is called Acceleration Training™.

Taking up about as much space as an armchair, the my7 model will fit easily into your home and your lifestyle. With the integration of proMOTION technology, it also eliminates the need for additional resistance training equipment, making this quite possibly the only piece of home fitness equipment you will ever need to own.

Exercising at home has never offered so many possibilities from just one machine, quite literally at your fingertips.

The Inclusive Fitness Initiative (IFI) has granted Power Plate International’s newest professional model, the pro6i™ with proMOTION™ Stage 2 accreditation.

Power Plate International is the only vibration training manufacturer to have its entire professional range IFI Stage 2 accredited. The certification of its newest professional model expands the options available to fitness operators seeking accessible vibration training equipment.

“We are delighted that a third Power Plate machine has achieved IFI accreditation. As well as offering one of the most accessible and integrated consoles in the fitness market, the pro6i machine provides even more options for users of every level of physical ability, thanks to its unique integrated cable resistance system,” says Chris Ratcliffe, Director of Development for the English Federation of Disability Sport, which manages the IFI.

This cable system allows users to perform a far wider range of dynamic exercises, both on the platform or on the floor, while still benefiting from the vibrations. A choice of two resistance settings allows the user to progress their workout.

“The cable resistance system is a really exciting addition, for people of all physical abilities, because it dramatically increases the range of dynamic training options. Now users can do upper body exercises that combine the benefits of resistance and vibration, or add load while performing lower body exercises. The opportunities are truly endless,” says Jeff Davis, Power Plate International’s Director of Sales for EMEA.

The pro6I also offers all the functionality of the pro5 AIRdaptive™ model, which is also IFI accredited. It has adjustable air settings for optimum vibration performance, whatever the user’s weight, and the widest range of frequency and amplitude settings, to adapt to the needs of more users.

The pro6i model has coloured tactile icons on the operating panel, colour contrast on the straps and adjustment lever, and tactile icons for the resistance settings, to aid ease of use for users with visual impairments.

It is also supplied with a step to assist user access and offer more exercise variety and has simplified secondary controls and a timer at the column base, for easy access.

While IFI accredited equipment is designed for all users to benefit from, the certification signifies that many disabled people can use the equipment independently.

No more ifs or ‘butts’, it’s time to get your booty bikini-ready for summer, with not one but two proven-effective methods combined – the celeb-favourite Power Plate® machine and cellulite-reducing garments from Lipo Contour Elite.

Both brands are already acknowledged weapons in the fight against cellulite and work on the same principle, using massage to improve circulation, aid the removal of toxins and shift stubborn fat deposits for a smoother, sleeker silhouette.

Power Plate has joined forces with Lipo Contour to develop Booty Camp, the ultimate lower body training programme, targeting those problem areas of legs, butts and tummies. This fast 25 minute Acceleration Training™ class is designed to be done while wearing the Lipo Contour Elite shorts or capris to promote maximum results.

The Lipo Contour Elite shorts and capris are made from patented fabric with a three way action. This breakthrough technology uses massage, heat and pressure to detoxify the skin, removing toxins and fluids and ultimately reducing cellulite. A scientific study* confirmed that using Lipo Contour Elite during exercise can speed up inch loss and cellulite reduction. Put simply, this is because the more you move in them, the faster they work.

Power Plate® machines offer a full body workout and are also shown to help fight cellulite as illustrated in an independent study which showed that Power Plate® exercise helped subjects achieve a 25.7% reduction in cellulite over six months**.

The Booty Camp class uses high intensity, circulation-enhancing dynamic stretching, toning and balancing exercises, interspersed with active intervals. Perform two to three classes a week, while wearing the Lipo Contour Elite shorts or capris, and wear the Elite product for another four hours daily, to enhance results.

Now is the perfect time to find out how combining these two proven-effective cellulite-busting methods can take you from lumpy and bumpy to toned and terrific for a ‘booty-ful’ result just in time for bikini season.

MARK WAHLBERG’S SECRET TO STAYING FIGHTING FIT

Friday, 28 January 2011 by admin

Hollywood star Mark Wahlberg’s secret weapon as he prepared for his latest role in the hotly-anticipated film The Fighter was the Power Plate® pro6™ model.

The award winning actor has been training for four years to ensure his portrayal of boxer Micky ‘Irish’ Ward is as authentic as possible – right down to his impressive muscular physique.

The film opens in the UK on 4 February 2011 and is a contender for Oscar glory. It has already won two Golden Globes and been nominated for four Screen Actors Guild awards.

Fitness expert Brian Nguyen, who has worked with Wahlberg in the past, devised an intense training strategy that accommodated the actor’s busy filming schedule while still offering an efficient fat-blasting and muscle-building workout.

Wahlberg used the Power Plate pro6 model with proMOTION™ Dynamic Vibration Technology to add a whole new dimension to his functional training program.

The Power Plate machine delivers a more efficient full body workout, as the vibrations stimulate a reflex action throughout the whole body, causing the muscles to contract multiple times per second, intensifying the results.

The proMOTION™ cable resistance system in the pro6 model allows users to perform many more dynamic exercises, especially for the upper body, both on and off the platform, while still benefiting from the vibrations.

As well as regular Acceleration Training™ sessions to help him gain the muscular physique and stamina necessary to play this gruelling role convincingly, Wahlberg also spent time with Ward himself to learn his mannerisms.

The film tells the true-life story of Ward’s early years as his brother helps to train him, before Ward went pro in the mid 1980s.

To follow in Wahlberg’s footsteps and get fighting fit, try Brian Nguyen’s training program, available to download. You can also watch Wahlberg in training with our exclusive video footage at www.powerplate.com/uk.
